Other Masonic Bodies
Master Masons have the opportunity to join various affiliated Masonic organizations. Some of these—such as the Scottish Rite and York Rite—may be familiar to you, In addition to these, there are numerous appendant Masonic bodies, including organizations for women and families, such as the Order of the Eastern Star and others. These groups often work alongside Masonic lodges to support and promote the values of Freemasonry. These other appendage bodies expand your knowledge and Masonic experience, but as all Masons know, their is no higher degree than a Master Mason. Scottish Rite
The Scottish Rite is an appendant body of Freemasonry that expands on the teachings of the first three Masonic degrees through a series of dramatic and philosophical degrees from the 4th to the 32nd. It focuses on moral, ethical, and spiritual lessons, encouraging personal growth and service to humanity.
York Rite
The York Rite is a branch of Freemasonry that offers additional degrees beyond the Blue Lodge, organized into three primary bodies: the Chapter of Royal Arch Masons, the Council of Royal & Select Masters, and the Commandery of Knights Templar. It emphasizes biblical history, Christian chivalry, and the search for spiritual truth through its progression of degrees and orders.
Order of the Eastern Star
The Order of the Eastern Star is a Masonic-affiliated organization open to both men and women, focusing on charity, truth, and loving-kindness. It uses biblical stories and female role models to teach moral lessons through symbolic rituals and ceremonies.
Shrine
The Shriners are a fraternity of Master Masons known for their philanthropy. Shriners units and clubs are local groups that organize social events, parades, and fundraising activities to support the philanthropic mission of Shriners International. They are especially recognized for operating Shriners Children's hospitals, providing specialized medical care to children regardless of families' ability to pay.
National Sojourners is an organization of Masonic military members and veterans dedicated to promoting patriotism and Americanism. They support educational programs, honor military service, and foster the principles of Freemasonry through patriotic activities and community service.
Youth Organizations
Masonic youth groups are organizations that aim to help young people develop strong character, leadership skills, and a sense of civic duty through service projects, educational activities, and social events. DeMolay is for boys, while Job’s Daughters and Rainbow are for young ladies.

Iowa DeMolay – for young men aged 12 to 21, focusing on leadership, public speaking, and community service, inspired by the story of Jacques DeMolay, a historical Templar figure.

Iowa Job’s Daughters International – for young women aged 10 to 20 who have Masonic heritage, emphasizing respect for family, patriotism, and community involvement, based on the biblical story of Job’s daughters.

International Order of the Rainbow for Girls – open to girls aged 11 to 20, regardless of Masonic relation, promoting spiritual growth, service, and friendship through colorful, symbolic ceremonies and personal development programs.
